Among our members today we already have a number of Danish hospitals, but today we are pleased to announce that the Central Denmark Region is also joining Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare.
We let them introduce themselves:
Central Denmark Region (CDR) is the 2nd largest region in Denmark with approximately 1,3 million. people, about 23% of Denmark's total population. The Regional tasks covers both health, psychiatry, social care and regional development, such as environmental issues and mobility.
In CDR there are five hospital units, and here the major part of CDR's 30.000 employees are working. The hospitals play a role in every CDR citizen’s life at some point, to some degree. Hence, we see ourselves as holding a large responsibility in leading the way towards more sustainable organizations and productions in a broad perspective - and as inspiration for the public in general.
A new regional strategy for sustainability is currently in hearing. It presents new and highly ambitious 2030 goals concerning CO2 reduction, waste reduction, recycling, social responsibility, sustainable energy consumption etc. We are already preparing for plans for implementation and action. In addition, the overall strategy for regional development is based on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
With an active membership of NCSH we aim to increase and intensify our Nordic collaborations, as we believe that the challenge of creating sustainable healthcare is a task best solved through partnerships, across borders.
We look forward to future collaborations. Welcome!
